The year 2012 has meant it well with us. The victory in my fight against the malicious disease in 2011 is sustained. This lucky circumstance gave us free space to plan our private and our professional life without any serious limitations and to implement our ideas and concepts.
The brilliant start was again, by now already a tradition for us, the New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the famous Musikvereinssaal in Vienna.

2012-й год был к нам благосклонен. Победа, одержанная мной в борьбе с коварной болезнью в 2011 году, оказалась непреходящей и стабильной. Это счастливое обстоятельство дало нам свободу в планировании – как в работе, так и в личной жизни – и возможность осуществления многих наших идей и планов.
Блестящее начало года положил ставший для нас уже традиционным Новогодний концерт Венского филармонического оркестра в знаменитом концертном зале Венского музыкального общества.

Das Jahr 2012 hat es gut mit uns gemeint. Der Sieg, den ich in meinem Kampf gegen die tückische Krankheit im Jahr 2011 errungen habe, ist nachhaltig. Dieser glückliche Umstand gab uns den Freiraum ohne Einschränkungen zu planen – beruflich und privat – und unsere Ideen und Vorstellungen weitgehend umzusetzen.
Der fulminante Auftakt war das für uns nun schon zur Tradition gewordene Neujahrskonzert der Wiener Philharmoniker im berühmten Musikvereinssaal in Wien.

The presentation of Dr. Dr. h.c. Monika Lehnhardt below was delivered twice: in the parents’ webinar of the Lehnhardt Academy on May 6 2012 and during the May webinar of the company ISTOK. It provides the section-by-section highlights of the landmark audiology congress held in Moscow in April-May 2012.

vom 6. Symposium der Deutsche Cochlear Implant Gesellschaft e.V., Stuttgart 5./6. November 2011 (–> Programm)
Motivation: Ich besuche dieses Symposium (1) wegen der hochaktuellen Fragestellung, (2) wegen des innovativen Konferenzstiles, der eine Aktivierung der Teilnehmerkompetenzen bezweckt, und (3) wegen des Konferenzergebnisses in Form eines Positionspapieres, in dem im Zusammenwirken von hochrangigen Experten und den Betroffenen die Grundlage für eine optimale, zukunftsorientierte, lebenslange Anpassung von CI-Sprachprozessoren definiert werden soll.
Charity Projekt: upgrade für armenische Kinder: Ausserdem erhoffe ich weiterführende Kontakte und Gespräche, um die derzeitige Fokus-Aktion der Prof. Ernst Lehnhardt Stiftung zu unterstützen: in Armenien leben 15 Kinder mit CI und total veralterten Sprachprozessoren. Wir laden Familien ein, nicht mehr gebrauchte Sprachprozessoren ihrer Kinder für das Armenienprojekt zur Verfügung zu stellen. Das Symposium beginnt mit einer musikalischen Begrüssung durch die Harfinistin Esther Köninger, das alle Anwesenden in einen entspannten Zustand versetzt.
Die Begrüssung und Einführung hält Franz Hermann, DCIG-Präsident und CI_Träger.
Der neuartige Konferenzstil: Anschliessend erläutert der Moderator Dr. Winfried Kösters das Konzept und den Ablauf des neuartigen, partizipativen Konferenzstiles.

Presentation: Hearing Screening on the Path through Life
During the annual conference of the Erebouni University I had the opportunity to have a lecture on
“Hearing Screening on the Path through Life”
This topic is of high interest in Armenia as there are joint efforts of the ENT department of the Erebouni University (Prof. Arthur Shukuryan) together with the Ministry of Health to introduce neonatal hearing screening and hearing screening at pre-school age in the country in the very near future. New hand-held devices, designed for facilitating the assessment of hearing impairment in infants and children were presented.

Children with Cochlear Implants on their Way to Inclusion – Kyiv Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education, October 7 2011
On October 7, 2011, Lehnhardt-Academy and the Kyiv Postgraduate Pedagogical Education Institute held a first shared prototype seminar on inclusive education and pedagogical rehabilitation of children with cochlear implants (more information here) entitled “Social Media for Inclusion”.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Dr. Monika Lehnhardt, Director of the Lehnhardt-Academy, Chairwoman of the the Ernst-Lehnhardt-Foundation, under the title ‘Children with Cochlear Implants on their Way to Inclusion‘.
